Meet Isaiah Hudson, Senior Bonner Intern

Isaiah Hudson is a junior, economics with a minor in fashion merchandising here at Morehouse College. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Isaiah was raised in Ohio but later on graduated from high school at Sprayberry High in Marietta, GA. 

During his time at Morehouse College, he has served within the bonner program as freshmen class coordinator and currently chief compliance officer. As a bonner scholar, he as been volunteering at KIPP Strive Primary school, a community partner for the bonner office, for the past 2 years primarily working with 3 and 4 graders in the classroom. 

Besides his interest in community, Isaiah interests in fashion, media, and economics have given him the opportunity to intern at NBCUniversal during the summer of his sophomore and junior in digital ad strategy with Telemundo. Isaiah believes that internships are vital for all Morehouse students continuing past their undergraduate studies. Isaiah remembers a quote from a family friend, "Internships are just that internships it allows you to see what you want to do and what you do not want to do".

Meet Quinton Jenkins, Sophomore Intern

In recent American Politics,  politicians are deciding on the direction of healthcare and who should be covered and to what extent. As future men of Morehouse, it is important to fully understand your role and to be comfortable in your opinion on decisions being made on a local, national, and international level.Therefore do you feel as though the American government is moving in the right direction with new healthcare laws? As well as, on a much more complicated level, do you believe healthcare is a right or a privilege? (please thoroughly explain your response).

Meet Jacob Bentley, Program Coordinator of BOCS

Mr. Jacob Bentley was born to Jacob and Phyllis Bentley in Riverside California. When

he was 3, his father got a job coaching for the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers, and his family

moved to the great city of Atlanta, where he was raised. After graduating from the illustrious

Benjamin E. Banneker High School in College Park, Georgia he chose to forsake the many

schools that wanted him (Harvard, GA Tech, Princeton, Emory), and take his talents to

Morehouse College. Upon reviving his Bachelor of Science degrees in Math and Engineering,

Mr. Bentley went to the FAMU/FSU school of Engineering to get his Master’s in Industrial

Wanting to do more for his community, Mr. Bentley gave up Engineering and chose to

become an educator. For the last 8+ years, he has worked at Morehouse College, first with the

Federal TRIO programs, and for the last 6, with the Bonner Office of Community Service.

Meet D'Anthony Davis, Adams Coordinator

My name is D'Anthony Davis. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. I attended South Atlanta High School. I am a rising sophomore with a major in psychology. After graduating from Morehouse College I plan to attend graduate school and begin my career as a Pediatric Child Adolescent Psychiatrist.

Meet Charles Porch III, Co-Freshman Class Coordinator

My name is Charles Porch III, a sophomore Business Management major at Morehouse College. I was born and raised in Lithonia, Georgia and graduated from Arabia Mountain High School in 2016.

As a Bonner, I have had the opportunity to serve at M. Agnes Jones Elementary School and continue to serve there for this upcoming school year. 

For this upcoming year I plan to work with the freshman class to come up with new service ideas that will leave an impact on a larger scale.

Meet Izrah Hurd, Co-Freshman Class Coordinator

 Sophomore

     Psychology major

   Chicago, IL

Chicago has shaped my life completely. In the bustling urban setting I faced much adversity but also much success. As a first generation college student I have been granted the opportunity to change the stereotypical narrative of those who share the same background as me. A black male from a low income single parent household typically does not have much positives said about him in this society. I am the exception and Mother Morehouse has introduced me to many other exceptions that exists in our community.

Question:

If you fish for a man, he eats for a day. If you teach a man how to fish, he eats forever. How do you plan to allow Morehouse to help you become successful in your endeavors? What do you think is your purpose for coming to Morehouse?

Meet Wilbur Whitney, Director of the Bonner Community Service Office.

                                     

Dr. Whitney is the Director, Bonner Office of Community Service at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA.  Previously he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Morehouse College.  He earned his Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University. His area of training and expertise is in Ecological Psychology, which is the study of the impact of culture and environment on individuals, groups and organizations.  He has co-authored several books on African- American Issues in Mental Health. He is the former Executive Director for Human Relations for the City of Cincinnati and the former National President of the Association of Black Psychologist.  Dr. Whitney conducts program evaluation research for Non-profit and Profit organizations.
